Forty-one Mansfield ISD students have earned a spot at a state visual arts competition because of their exemplary work.
The high school students will compete at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) on April 27-28 in San Marcos.
To qualify for the state contest, students submitted original artwork, created in their art classes, to the regional event. The students were then interviewed by a certified juror. Evaluations of the work were based on a rubric and the understanding of the art processes involved in the development of their artwork.

Medals and scholarships are presented to students who receive top ratings at the state competition. Students also have the opportunity to participate in professional workshops and demonstrations at the two-day event.
VASE is sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association. The goal of the event is to recognize student achievement in the visual arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve. Learn more about the competition here.
